In the shadow of the Last and Great Celestial Civil War, Mariposa grew to be a center of industry and arts for thousands of years. Nestled between the great oceanic forests of the Eastern Kingdoms and the mountainous ranges of the western expanse, Mariposa and her Queen outlasted kings and gods.
Now, in the fourth year of Queen Mariposa the Negligent, a war with the Empire of Night arrived on the shores of Mariposa. The Empire, machinist autocrats wielding the mighty industry of sixty eight nations and a thousand peoples, scarred a swath of broken land and rubble into Queen's Court, the city's center. The war lasted all of three weeks.
Now, with the Empire in control of the city center, murmurs of rebellion are abound. Discontent from the lower wards of the city, where the dockside laborers and plant workers clutch newly imperial pink slips, has caused a grand wall to encircle the city. In the heart of the city, a conspiracy brews between unlikely forces.
